René Lacoste thought that the original polo shirts, originally worn by polo players in the 20s, were too stiff and uncomfortable to play tennis in. In mid-1920s, The French Grand Slam tennis champion revolutionized the design of the classic polo shirt and wore his version of it for the first time at the US Open championship – the version of polo shirt that we all know by today's standard.
The Merry Company Polo is designed to be boxy and casual; with the length that looks great tucked or untucked. The 1-inch extended back detail is inspired by Lacoste's original "tennis tail".
